Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, has publicly criticized President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), former commissioner Brian Quintenz. Winklevoss argues Quintenz's views are misaligned with the administration's crypto agenda, citing concerns shared by industry leaders.

The White House unexpectedly delayed Quintenz's Senate confirmation process this week without providing clear reasons. Quintenz, who recently served as regulatory chief for a16z crypto and sits on the board of prediction-markets firm Kalshi, retains the administration's nominal support despite the setback.

"Many in our industry have significant concerns about this nomination," Winklevoss told CoinDesk. His opposition reflects growing tension between crypto executives and regulators over the direction of digital asset oversight.
